The Story Behind
My New Easter Friends
How I came to write My New Easter Friends is an interesting story. I will begin where most stories should, at the beginning. My daughter, had in the middle of March, many years back, given birth to a healthy baby boy. Whom, was showered with many gifts.
Easter, was coming up early in April, that year. My wife wanted to give him something for Easter. That being we, drove to the store to purchase something. I wasn’t certain what she had in mind. So she went over to the candy section to buy him some Easter candy. I looked at her and said Dear, I love you, but he was just born and does not even have teeth yet. So candy is out of the question.
Not being daunted we walked over to the clothing section of the store. I again looked at her in disbelief and stated Dear, he received so many new clothes he will outgrow most before he can wear them. She agreed.
We then took a walk over to the book section to purchase a Easter book. I found nothing that I would be happy to give to him as a gift. I said that I could write a better story than what I see here. We left the store and my beautiful and generous wife drove us home. However, before we left the parking lot, I had this book in my mind and when we returned home I wrote “My New Easter Friends.” My wife illustrated it and we gave this book to our first grandchild. My daughter read the book to him every Easter as well as to our first granddaughter when she came onto the scene.
And after a number of years she suggested that I have my publisher look at My New Easter Friends as a Easter book for young children. And that is how it came about. I hope you enjoy!
